Vane is developed and operated by CodeArc.studio. Vane is designed to provide weather information and personalize how weather conditions are described based on your check-ins and preferences.
Vane is designed to collect only the information needed to provide and improve the experience. Vane does not sell personal information and is not designed around advertising or cross-app tracking.
Information Vane may use
Depending on the features you use, Vane may process the following types of information:
- Weather check-ins, such as whether conditions feel chilly, comfortable, warm, or hot to you.
- Weather conditions associated with a check-in, such as temperature, humidity, wind, precipitation, sun, and related forecast information.
- Locations you choose to view or save for weather forecasts.
- App settings and personalization preferences.
- Information you choose to send when you contact support.
How information is used
Information is used to provide forecasts, personalize how weather is described, improve calibration over time, remember your preferences, support app features, and respond to support requests.
Location
Vane may request access to your location so it can show weather for where you are. Vane is designed so that check-ins can learn from the weather conditions around you without turning your check-in history into a precise location history.
You can control location access through your device settings. Some Vane features may be limited if location access is disabled.
Apple and third-party services
Vane may use Apple services such as WeatherKit, location services, iCloud, and other system features to provide weather, syncing, and related functionality. Those services are subject to Apple's own privacy practices and terms.
Weather information may come from Apple Weather and other data sources used by Vane. Availability and accuracy can vary by location and over time.
Sharing and disclosure
Vane does not sell your personal information. Information may be disclosed when necessary to operate the app through service providers or platform services, comply with law, protect users or the service, or complete a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition. Any service provider used by Vane should only receive information needed for the service it performs.
Data retention
Vane aims to keep personal information only for as long as it is useful for the features you choose to use, required for legal or security purposes, or needed to maintain your preferences and history. Where available, Vane may provide controls to reset personalization, remove check-in history, or delete app data.
Your choices
You can choose whether to provide optional check-ins, change app permissions through your device, manage Vane settings, and contact us about privacy questions or requests. Ignoring or skipping a check-in does not prevent you from using the basic weather experience.
Children's privacy
Vane is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can review the request.
Changes to this policy
Vane will evolve as the app is developed. This policy may be updated to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes in how information is handled. The updated date at the top of this page will change when the policy is revised.
